manuela is a former opera diva turned teacher/physician turned assassin. once noted for her beauty and outstanding singing voice, she retired while she was at the top of her game in order to head off the inevitability of her beauty and skills fading with time. she sought to teach and to heal at the local officer's academy, but then got embroiled in the war that originated there. smashcut to five years later and manuela is even older, even more jaded, and longing even more for the spotlight she left behind.
